Description

The original chocolate chip cookies that we ate when we were kids!

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks softened at room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 2 cup chocolate chips (12-ounce package)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (I use walnuts or pecans. If you leave the nuts out, add 1 to 2 Tbsp of all-purpose flour.)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Cover and chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour before baking. Makes 5 Dozen.
Note
Pan Cookie:
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. Prepare dough as above.
Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 4 dozen bars.
